This month our Director, Dominic Speelman, is up to answer our questions as I’m sure you’d like to know a few things about the creator of MAKE International…

Twelve years ago in 2005, MAKE was set up by Dominic Speelman. Originally just a two-man company, Dom has directed MAKE’s rapid extension which has seen it reach the size that it is today. Dominic is the man behind it all so hopefully you’ll be interested in his answers to a few of our questions…

What’s the best thing about your job?

Everything! If I really must choose I would choose the creative aspect of it. I can create ideas and then bring them to fruition. I enjoy being surrounded by creative people and love sharing concepts with them and making them happen!

If you weren’t the CEO of MAKE International, what would be your dream job?

I love this job and the freedom which comes with it. I’ve got no idea, maybe a professional squash player 🙂

Would you rather work 8-hours standing or 10-hours sitting?

I do most of my thinking and strategy whilst walking and I am also a very active person, but in a work concept I would probably be more useful 10-hours sitting, shaping up all those ideas!

If you were invisible, where would you go?

The White House, Pentagon, the Kremlin. I would love to know the real stories and political agendas. Maybe I should have put MI6 agent on question number 2!

What is the funniest prank that’s ever been played on you or you’ve played on someone else?

I was living in a flat at Uni with 7 other guys and we were drinking and smoking in the living room. A friend of mine, Leo, fell asleep whilst smoking a cigarette. We thought it would be funny to put shaving foam on his head so when he awoke he would be confused. However, he didn’t wake up for hours so we extinguished his cigarette and each got more daring with the shaving foam (like a game of Jenga). By the end Leo was covered head to toe in shaving foam and the holes we left for his eyes closed as the foam slipped. He still didn’t wake up. Eventually we all went to bed and left Leo on the chair. All I eventually heard was a load of profanities and a squelching noise as he attempted to sling himself into bed.

If you were stranded on a tropical island, what 2 things would you want with you?

That’s easy! The two things I can’t live without: My family and my glasses.

If you HAD to change your name, what would you change it to?

Elon Musk, but only if I could also do what he does!

Could you find us a picture that symbolises your childhood/youth?
