So, before the fun starts – it’s always best to learn a little history… do you know who Saint Patrick was and his importance?

Saint Patrick is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland who lived during the fifth century. At 16, he was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave. Saint Patrick managed to escape to France where he is said to have found Christianity. He later returned to Ireland bringing Christianity to its people. The 17th March is the day of Saint Patrick’s death so this is the date recognised to celebrate his life and contribution to Irish heritage.
Now for the fun ideas…

Go Green

Dig out your greenest jumper and get it on for St. Patrick’s Day. Why not make an event at work and get people to pay to wear green and give your proceeds to charity? You could even have a green food/cake sale – only green things make it. If you’re feeling very keen then you could even paint your face green or spray paint your hair green 🙂

Use some Irish Lingo

All day you’ll be having ‘good craic’ and everything good can be described as ‘grand’! Maybe the only day of the year you can get away with these words if you’re not Irish!

Experiment with a bit of Irish dancing

If you’re shy you don’t need to do it professionally in a class – why not just stick on a YouTube video and give it a go – please be careful though especially if it’s after a few Guinness’s.
