Are we wearing rose-tinted glasses or has everything suddenly turned very pink? Love is in the air, and there is no escaping the roses and love hearts being thrown at us from every direction. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and here at MAKE we think it’s a great excuse to indulge in some tasty treats again. This year we are mixing it up, not going for the predictable chocolate and sweets, instead we are going to be surprising our ‘honey bunny’s to some delicious homemade red velvet cake. It might sound complicated by luckily we have another super easy mug cake recipe for you to try out.

1 large egg
3 tbsp vegetable out
1 tsp red food colouring
3 tbsp buttermilk
2 tsp vanilla extract
3 tbsp granulated sugar
2 tbsp cocoa powder
3 tbsp self-rising flour
½ tsp white vinegar
This recipe serves 1 but if you feel like stepping up the romance you double the ingredients and make two mugs worth OR why not chuck it all into one large mug to make a yummy treat to share!

Combine all ingredients into a mug you ‘love’.

2.Whisk until smooth.

3.Microwave for 1 minute.

This cake is best eaten still warm so why not get everything ready before your ‘other half’ gets home and then pop it in the microwave when you’re ready – the perfect end to your Valentine’s dinner 🙂
