How did the Tatty Devine collaboration come about?

Tatty Devine, our latest contemporary British brand to join MAKE International, have launched! We’ve been looking forward to this one for a long time now and I’m sure you’ll agree that the fun, statement ceramics do not disappoint. A real collector’s item, these standout ceramics are quintessentially British with a contemporary, punky twist! Designed collaboratively by MAKE International’s ceramicist Keith Brymer Jones and the Tatty Devine designers, here is how the whole partnership started – from Rosie and Harriet the Tatty Devine, co-founders…

Where and how did you meet Keith?

After chatting over email, Keith invited us to his studio and we had a lovely day out in Whitstable. Any excuse to go to the seaside, really!

Why did you decide to work together?

We both love ceramics and have always collected interesting pieces, Homemaker and Midwinter being two favourites. When we met Keith we were immediately drawn to his lovely energy and the fact he had such a great understanding of our brand.

How did you know that he was the one to work with to develop a ceramics range?

We knew that we wanted to make something really special, something different to what was currently available on the market and Keith felt like the right person for the job. He’s prepared to take risks which is important when you’re making something truly original, plus he is a realist so knows the making process inside out – really helpful when you’re designing something outside your comfort zone.

What’s the best thing about working with Keith?

He genuinely wants to make beautiful things which is very refreshing. He makes us smile too!

What’s the worst thing about working with Keith?

That we’re separated by a long two-hour journey!

If you’ve got any questions for Rosie or Harriet about Tatty Devine, themselves or the new ceramics range with Keith Brymer Jones then let us know 😊
